What is Mindbody Syndrome or TMS?
TMS is short for Tension Myositis Syndrome or Tension Myoneural Syndrome, but today it is most commonly referred to as Mind-body Syndrome, or neuroplastic pain. To explain it briefly, this condition covers various forms of chronic pain that originate from a psychosomatic condition.
Have you experienced CHRONIC SYMPTOMS for longer than 6 months? Have you tried everything, but are you STILL IN PAIN?
The most common reason is that modern medicine fights the symptoms rather than the root cause of the pain. When dealing with physical symptoms, the default is to look at the body. And yes, it seems logical, but all the pain we feel comes from 1 place: OUR BRAIN!
Our brains are the ones assessing how much pain should be ‘sent’ based on its analysis of the situation we are in. It is a super computer that remembers everything, and it’s main job is to keep you safe and alive. Unfortunately, this supercomputer can also start adopting faulty programming.
Not entirely convinced? Ok, let’s take a undeniable example: phantom limb pain. If the pain was 100% in the body, removing that body part should mean no more pain. Yet, the term ‘phantom limb pain’ exists because people feel pain or sensations in a body part that is no longer there. This is because our mind and body are intrinsically connected.
We can imagine the taste of a lemon and produce the reaction of salivation in our mouth with the thought alone. What we think influences how we feel in our body, our behaviour towards these thoughts determine our experiences, with regards to pain, confidence, and our overall mental health. They are all connected. And as a cherry on top of the cake there are also factors such as our environment (family, society, culture), our diets, and our sleep habits that impact these thoughts.
So no, examining the body alone will not help you heal chronic symptoms, we are more complex than that. And if it did, would you still be in pain?
To heal chronic pain, you NEED a MindBody approach
“WAIT A MINUTE! are you saying it is all in my head IN MY HEAD?”
When hearing the word psychosomatic, a lot of people think, “Wait a minute, are you saying it is all in my head”, and the simple answer is “No, the pain is definitely real!”. However, as Nicole Sachs so beautifully puts it: “the answer is also not in your body”.
So what is causing this, often debilitating pain, that some of you have been walking around with for years, sometimes decades?
Dr. Sarno, the father of the TMS approach, found that it can be traced back to the build-up of tension in the body, due to psychological stress. This build up of stress can lead the automatic nervous system to go into overdrive and as a result the brain sends out ‘false’ pain signals, that we feel in our body.
While the pain you feel is very real, the cause is impossible to detect on MRIs, resulting in many chronic pain patients not getting a clear diagnosis, and there is often no treatment nor hope for full recovery. They are often medically unexplained symptoms, that you’ve been walking around with for a long time, and you have probably already tried everything to alleviate your pain. Or they did explain where it came from, but what you have tried to do against it hasn’t actually worked.
Thanks to Dr. Sarno’s work, and the developments in neuroscience which gave birth to the MindBody approach, I am here to tell you:
I can help!
Common CHRONIC ISSUES that are most likely TMS, are:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Sciatica pain
- RSI
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Chronic headaches and Migraines
- CRPS
- Irritable bowel syndrome (+ other gastronomical issues)
- Pelvic pain
And many more. If you are not sure whether this applies to your specific case, you can first book a Free Call so we can assess if this is right for you. Or take the self test below.
Take the selftest
If you want to determine whether this method applies to your specific case, you can take this self-test (10-questions). Find out if you too can free yourself of chronic pain, once and for all.
Why Rise
your RECOVERY
starts HERE
My approach is based on Dr. Sarno’s methods, and MindBody healing. This approach focuses on the root cause of the pain. By addressing the underlying psychological factors and retraining the brain to develop new painfree neural pathways in a safe and gradual way, chronic pain symptoms can completely be eradicated
1-on-1 sessions
I offer 1-on-1 sessions in which we will look at your (medical) background and set up a personalised recovery plan together
Online
All sessions are done online, so you can reach me from the comfort of your own home, and even stay in your PJs 😉
Guiding you to be your own hero
You don’t have to do this alone, I can help you get started and guide you along the way. But the goal is to give you all the tools so you don’t need me anymore, and you become your own superhero.
No countless visits to doctors, hospitals, specialists
No blood works
No scans
No operations
No biopsies
No endless medical fees
How I can help you
I offer 1-on-1 sessions, in which we first look into your case and (medical) background. Based on that, we will create a recovery plan, together, with the help of the various tools I have to offer. It’s important to know that I am not here to diagnose you or prescribe you anything. I am here to provide the knowledge I have obtained during my training, that will empower you to start your healing journey, and will be your guidance every step of the way.
My Purpose
To help people that have been suffering from (unexplainable) chronic pain, to rise from it, and regain their joy in life. The only way to do this, is to get to the root of the problem, and heal it at the source.
When I learned about MindBody healing, the effectiveness and simplicity of his approach, I knew I needed to help raise awareness and make it more accessible for people living with chronic pain.
As much as I have genuine respect for the current medical system, and acknowledge the numerous lives that are saved on a daily basis due to modern medicine, I also see its limitations when it comes to dealing with chronic pain, for which, in many cases, they have simply not found an answer.
For these cases, where they cannot find a clear structural problem, the common solution is to ‘medicate and fight the symptoms’, which doesn’t solve it, nor does it really eradicate the pain. I believe we are so much more complex than our pathology, and what you can see on a scan, and the current medical model, at times, focuses too much on the snapshots and all the loose parts, rather than seeing a person as a whole. Often, it is by zooming and taking a more holistic approach, that you will find the answer, and this is what my work is based on.
